The ISSN (International Standard Serial Number) is an eight-digit number which identifies periodical publications as such, including electronic serials. More here about ISSN and definition of a periodical publication

The number is assigned to a title either by national centres or by the International Centre in Paris. Publishers of Danish periodicals (that is periodicals published in Denmark) may apply for an ISSN at ISSN Denmark, which is situated at the Royal Library.
