Open your eyes – the world in its most true form springs to life at Danish Press Photo of The Year 2018. This large exhibition in the Black Diamond displays the most versatile and memorable moments from last year captured by the best Danish photojournalists

Each year the most prominent press photographers in Denmark are celebrated with the Press Photo of the Year exhibition, and for the 10th year in a row, The Royal Danish Library will be hosting the display of the most outstanding snapshots of the year.

Press Photo of The Year 2018

This year the award for Press Photo of the year 2018 went to freelance photographer Bax Lindhardts photo capturing a champagne shower from past years Reality Awards in Copenhagen. The committees’ explanatory statement: “In Bax Linhardts winning photo the jury found both an aesthetically good photo while showing a problem. The youth culture and the digital revolution relentless demand self-orchestration, perfectionism and a ‘facade’, which must be maintained, if you want to make in the world

Press photographer of the year 2018

The award for Press Photographer of The Year 2018 goes to photojournalist Mathias Svold. The committees’ statement: ‘Mathias Svold is being awarded Press Photographer of The Year because his submitted portfolio contains the strongest main thread among the submissions. He knows what he wants, and he uses his ‘visuals voice’ to tell it’.

All winners, and there photo series, of the many categories can be seen in the Rotunda in The Black Diamond. Amongst other categories are: Sports Photo of The Year, News Photo of The Year, ‘Every-day’ Photo of The Year and many more.

Hours: Monday-Friday 10-19, Saturday 10-18
Admission: DKK 60, students DKK 30, children under 18 free, Copenhagen Card free, (school classes DKK 60 per theacher and students for free)
Tickets are sold at the reception and are valid for all exhibitions in the Rotunden.
