Author: Sophus Michaëlis
Composition: 1930.
As early as November 1928, Nielsen was presented with the idea of composing music to the forthcoming celebration of H.C. Andersen in 1930. However, he and the programme committee did not come to an agreement, and it was not until February 1930 that he apparently started composing. From April he worked continuously, finishing the music for the play Amor og Digteren on 7 June 1930.
